Community Framework Meeting (Invitation to attend 24/11/2010)

All Ponteland residents are cordially invited to a meeting in the Memorial Hall starting at 7.15pm on Wednesday the 24th of November.  The main purpose of the meeting will be discuss how Northumberland County Council and to some extent Ponteland Town Council use their budgets to provide services.  The meeting will take the following format: -

 1.  Introduction by NCC Staff

 2.  Explaining in some detail how the 7 categories are made up:-

     Green and Clean

     Affordable Housing

     Education

     Elderly

     Economy

     Highways

     Efficiency

3.  There will be an opportunity for everyone to vote on the priorities for the

Budget. This will be done via using handed out slips of paper (that make up

£100 per attendee) into 7 boxes that represent the categories as above.

For example if you think that £25 should be spent on Highways

(out of your £100) you would put £25 worth of the allocated money into

the Highways box. The other £75 into the other various boxes as you see fit.

 4.  Coffee (whilst counting of the slips of paper from the 7 boxes takes

     place by NCC staff)

 5.  The results of the count showing how the meeting thinks cash via NCC should

be allocated across the various categories.

 6.  Discuss in as much detail as appropriate the top three of the count.

 7.  Close of Meeting

Ponteland Community Framework Meeting Notes

Thank you to all those that braved the first snow fall of 2010 to attend the meeting in the Memorial Hall. Discussions were held and a number of views aired. From the seven areas that were discussed those attending allocated their £100 worth of paper slips into seven boxes in order of their own preferences. The results are as follows:-

Education received £495
Elderly “ £280
Green and Clean £270
Economy £265
Connectivity £250
Affordable Housing £240
Efficiency £170

So it can be seen that from those that attended the meeting where they thought the cash priorities of Northumberland County Council (NCC) should be placed. This exercise has already been carried out in a number of Parishes/Town Councils and is due to occur in further Parish/Town Councils. All results from meetings like this one are going back to the NCC who will analyse the results. NCC can then more accurately gauge the feeling of the electorate as to where cash resources should be applied.

Those present at the meeting generally felt this was a good forum and would like to see further meetings, a figure of 2 to 4 meetings per year was thought to be about right.

From those attending were, Robin Ramsay Ponteland Mayor, Peter Cowey Town Councillor and Richard Dodd NCC Councillor.
